An apple a day…..

SAVE THE APPLE!!!!!!!!!

If you’ve been here before you know I’m a Mets fan. That may be an understatement though.

But look, I forgive you if you aren’t a Mets fan. It’s ok, really. Just for today. But has your team ever played at Shea? Do you know the home run apple? Look in the comments, it’s my avatar!!!! And now, the poor sad little apple may have seen it’s last days. When the Mets move to their spiffy new field they may leave that apple behind.

Now I am all for fancy fireworks and special effects for home runs. Some of the newer stadiums do a great job. But please, please, please save the apple too.

There’s room for both.

Is it cheesy? Is the giant 582lb apple tacky and old? Yup. But it’s also tradition. It’s a part of being the Mets, of being the underdog (most years). It popped up for my 86 Mets for Doc, Straw and HoJo. It’s kitschy and corny and great. It deserves to be moved.

So….hop on over here and sign the petition. If for no other reason do it to keep me a little saner. :)

Philosophy:

I believe in the church of baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones.I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic's rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology. You see, there's no guilt in baseball. And it's never boring, which makes it like sex...It's a long season and you gotta trust it.
